The first day my young springer and I attended Jackie's class I was nervous. My pup was super excitable and had a hard time joining in previous classes. In the first Nosework class I was mortified! She ran up and jumped on everyone to say hi instead of engaging in the exercise.
Jackie never flinched, she said she's a young springer and needs to get it out of her system.
Today, about a year later my young gal can avoid her most exciting trigger, bunnies and work with great pleasure. Thanks to Jackie for her motto of work with the dog in front of you and trust them.

I introduced my 6-year-old dog to scent work with Jackie at My Dog Nose. I had no expectations, as I was brand new to the sport. With each class building on the prior one, I watched my dog become more confident, more focused, calmer and ultimately happier. Jackie allows the dogs to literally follow their nose - to do what comes naturally - in a very safe and supportive program. At the other end of the leash, I just have to be calm and be quiet! I highly recommend enrolling with My Dog Nose. Your dog will love it!

Jackie is a wonderful instructor. She makes learning fun for both dogs and their people, while gently guiding us on our nose work journey together. Her support, encouragement, tips, and anecdotes have all been incredibly helpful in keeping us on the right path. I’m so glad that we found Jackie and have the continued pleasure of working with her.

Our Nose work journey didn’t start with Jackie but we are so glad to have crossed paths with her and to continue under her guidance. Jackie exudes confidence, knowledge, enthusiasm and best of all a great rapport with my dogs. My girl can be quite reactive and protective over me but Jackie has won her over and she is progressing more than I ever dreamed she could❤️
Nose work with Jackie is our “happy place” and we’re looking forward to much more learning and fun!!!

Jackie has provided both the opportunity and expertise for my Service Dog, who basically works 24/7, to finally do something that is just all about him. He gets so excited when he sees his nose work harness. Jackie provides positive, knowledgeable, challenging instruction where the priority is always ensuring success for the dog. Her stories are always a bonus!! We love, love her classes!

Flynn is my ten-year-old Australian Cattle Dog mix. At two, I tried him at agility and he hated it. My Border Collie, River loves agility, so I wanted to do some type of dog sport with Flynn that he would enjoy. I was dubious about Nose work, what if he didn’t like that also. I talked to Jackie, and she told me that she had never met a dog that did not enjoy using their nose, and he would enjoy. She was so right!
My first lesson, Flynn cautiously entered the room, looked around, I could tell he was nervous, and then his nose started working. He methodically checked out all the boxes and found the treats. He has never looked back. Now as soon as I put his harness on, he gets excited. He pulls me into the start position at the search site and methodically starts working the area. He will never be the fastest dog out there to find the hides, but he enjoys the work and I really enjoy having the opportunity of doing something with him in partnership.
Jackie is an amazing instructor; she explains everything so well, and obviously has a love of all dogs, and she seems to knows their reactions and what they are thinking at each hide. She absolutely ensures that no dog will fail at any time.

When I made the move to Parksville and started a Nose Work community like I had on the Lower mainland in 2011, I was watching my students very carefully as I wanted someone I could mentor who would eventually teach classes themselves. It didn’t take me long to know that Jackie was that person. She really understands how much all dogs benefit from Nose Work when they get to lead the search. Jackie also understands how important it is to build a dog’s confidence slowly and carefully while at the same time helping the owners understand the scent picture so that they can fully support their dog. Jackie co-taught with me for a number of class sets at various levels and then did the training and became a Certified Nose Work Instructor herself. She is committed to continuing her journey of growth in this fabulous sport and her students rave about her! If her classes are full, get on her wait list. It will be worth it!

Jackie makes the classes fun for both dogs and owners. Her enthusiasm is infectious and she is the biggest cheerleader for your success. She genuinely wants you and your dog to succeed and that lifts the mood, removes the pressure and makes everything easier. It’s always more enjoyable when your instructor has a good sense of humour and Jackie most definitely has one. You’ll have a great time and learn a lot.

For my dog (Ellie), Jackie's Dog Scent program has truly been a source of joy and satisfaction. Prior to the course I walked my dog, offered her TLC, but always sensed "something missing" (her look of "Is that all there is to do" bothered me).
Since starting the nose work program, Ellie is much more mentally engaged while walking and gets excited when she sees Jackie. After the sessions, she is full of joy and satisfaction, and that makes me happy too.
For my part as a human, I have gained a great deal of insight about the "dog world", which I have appreciated. In addition, I have enjoyed the company of other "dog-loving people".
For both of us, the program has truly been mentally enriching. I highly recommend the program.
